cartoon airplanes
Cartoon airplanes – featuring aviator animals taking to the skies.I received a commission for a cartoon airplane, and so after enjoying drawing it so much decided to make a page of airplane cartoons. Maybe I got my original inspiration from Richard Scarry books that I used to to read when I was ( a lot) younger. I remember him featuring a fox flying around in an old WW1 airplane, as well as a few others that bore some sort of resemblance to actual aircraft. With these pictures I decided not to keep the drawings 100% authentic, they are cartoons after all, however I think they still capture the character of the aircraft.

Supermarine Spitfire - legendary British fighter. The Spitfire has to be one of the most recognisable aircraft in the world. I have been lucky enough to have one of them roar overhead, and I can say that it was absolutely magnificent!

Messerschmitt Bf 109 - German arch rival of the Spitfire.Perhaps I should have had a Daschund or German Shepherd piloting this one...

Macchi C.202 - Italian WW2 fighter. As it's an Italian aircraft I thought that I would have a pooch pilot in the form of an Italian Greyhound.

P51 Mustang - Legendary American fighter, which used the Rolls-Royce merlin engine which also powered the Spitfire.

P38 Lightning - Very distinctively shaped US fighter.I've always been a fan of very early flying machines, including the ones that never actually made it off the ground. Hopefully some time soonish I can get around to doing a page of 'Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines'. Track down the movie of that name if you want a good laugh. Well, after featuring a flying cat in the above cartoon, are you interested in any more cat cartoons? if so....
