The Messerschmitt Bf-109 (or Me 109) is one of the most distinctive and well-known aircraft of the Second World War. The type served as the mainstay of the German Luftwaffe.
The 109 was one of the few aircraft to enter service before the war, and to remain in service long after the war had entered with the Spanish finally retiring their aircraft in the 1960s.
Many leading German aces flew the type and was an archrival of the Supermarine Spitfire - particularly during the Battle of Britain.
Please note: I try to capture the character of the featured aircraft in these cartoons, rather than to make the drawing 100% acurate.
